Apple TechStep

Description

Model: Apple TechStep
Type: handheld
Category: Apple TechStep
Year: 1991

Description: The Apple TechStep was released in the early 1990’s as a tool to test a Macintosh computer. It was sold directly to the Apple support people around the world.

It uses ROM cartridges to test the internal components of the computer connected to it. The result is stored inside the TechStep and you can read the results by connecting it to a working computer.

It is unbelievable that so much care has been given to the test tool; it feels and looks great. Apple took care to make it user-friendly: you just follow the instructions on the screen to test a computer.

Today a rare and forgotten tool released by Apple, but a curiosity much sought after by collectors.

This item is part the Philippe Poppe Apple computer collection.
